You joined the Jev waitlist on launch day. Maybe you replied to a tweet with your use case, maybe you got the "You're in!" email a day later. Then you logged in and were told the service was full — or a week went by, you tried again, and this time it just worked. If you are confused about where Jev access actually stands, that is a reasonable reaction: it changed four times in two weeks.
Here is the short answer. As of September 30, 2026, there is no Jev waitlist. TypeSafe AI reopened signups on September 27 after pausing them for about a week, and anyone can create an account. What changed on the way is that new TypeSafe accounts no longer come with free credits.

Read top to bottom, the story is simple: demand outran GPUs twice. The waitlist was the first throttle, the signup pause was the second, and the reopening came without the free credit.
Why Jev Had a Waitlist at All
A waitlist on a new model is almost always about capacity, not exclusivity, and TypeSafe has been open about that. Its models page says it is "serving a very large volume of demand" and that limits can change "as upcoming large GPU deals land and we let in more users".
That matters for how you plan. Getting an account is no longer the bottleneck; throughput is. TypeSafe's published limits have already changed since launch week — they currently read 100K tokens per second and 40 requests per second — and higher limits are offered on custom and enterprise plans through its sales team. If you are building something that needs a guaranteed rate, treat early-access limits as a floor that can move, and build in retries.
How to Get Jev Access Today: Three Routes
"Jev access" now means choosing where to call the model from. All three routes run the same Jev model.

How to get Jev AI without the waiting list
You do not need a workaround any more, but you do need to pick a route that fits.
- You want TypeSafe's own API and price. Sign up directly. It ties with OpenRouter for the lowest per-token price, and you get TypeSafe's console playground and docs.
- You already pay OpenRouter for other models. Use
typesafe/jev-1.13and keep one bill. Note that Jev is a decisions model, not a chat completion. - You want to try it on your own text before paying anyone. Use the Jev AI playground on jev-ai.org: editing needs no account, and the free credits cover your first runs.

What most "Jev access" pages still get wrong
- "Join the waitlist." There is no waitlist to join. A page that still asks for your email to get you "Jev access" is either out of date or not TypeSafe's; TypeSafe's own signup is at
console.typesafe.ai. - "Sign up and get $5 free." That was true from September 20 until signups paused. Since September 27, TypeSafe says new signups get no free credits.
- "Download Jev." TypeSafe has not released weights. There is no download, no Ollama build and no local install; Jev is only available as a hosted API.
- "Existing users were locked out." TypeSafe said existing signups would keep working during the pause. If you were accepted from the waitlist but had not finished creating your account, however, you may have hit the "full" screen — see the checklist below.

Rule of thumb: if you can sign in, it is not an access problem any more. It is a billing, rate or request-shape problem, and the error message will tell you which.
When Will Jev Be Available?
It already is. The parts that are still "coming" are narrower, and TypeSafe has given no dates for them:
- Free credits for new signups. TypeSafe says it hopes to bring these back "as soon as possible".
- Stable rate limits. The models page says stable limits will follow "once things settle down".
- More models. Today there is one model,
jev-1.13.0, behind thejev-latestandjev-previewaliases; TypeSafe's launch post promises more in the pipeline without a timeline.
Treat any page quoting a specific date for the next Jev release, open weights or a free tier as speculation unless it links to TypeSafe.
FAQ
How long was the Jev waitlist?
About five days. Jev launched in early access on September 15, 2026, and TypeSafe removed the waitlist on September 20. Signups then paused from September 21 to September 27 while TypeSafe added capacity.
Do I need to rejoin the waitlist?
No. There is nothing to rejoin. Create an account at TypeSafe, use OpenRouter, or use jev-ai.org.
I signed up on September 20. Do I still have my $5 credit?
TypeSafe's announcements only say that new signups since the reopening do not get free credits; they do not say existing balances were removed. Check your console balance, and contact TypeSafe support if it looks wrong.
How do I get a Jev API key?
On TypeSafe, from the Keys page of the console after you sign up. On jev-ai.org, from Settings → API keys; the key is shown once and starts with sk-glm5-. On OpenRouter, your normal OpenRouter key works with typesafe/jev-1.13.
Is Jev free now that the waitlist is gone?
